The Humanities Institute promotes innovative cross-disciplinary research, teaching, and community programs in the humanities. To that end, the Institute is delighted to co-sponsor conferences in the humanities that originate at UB. The Institute does not provide sponsorship for individual lectures or seminars on campus, except those that are supported through its own initiatives: the HI Research Workshops, the Distinguished Scholar in Residence Series, the New Faculty Seminar Series, and Scholars at Muse, the flagship of the HI Research Fellows' engagement with local community.

These series of ground-breaking lectures and research workshops have brought UB and the city of Buffalo widespread recognition. The Institute's endeavors are supported by UB's outstanding library resources and by collaboration with local cultural institutions.
