Digital Dialogues featuring Michael Frisch (History) and Zoé Hamstead (Urban & Regional Planning)

January 29, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

At this brown-bag lunch in the library series, “Digital Dialogues,” we will hear from Michael Frisch, Senior Research Scholar and Professor Emeritus of History, who will speak about his work on new software approaches for indexing and annotating audio and video documentation, including the PixStori app. We will also hear from Zoé Hamstead, Assistant Professor of Environmental Planning and director of the Community Resilience Lab, who will share her work on using GIS to better predict and manage vulnerabilities associated with extreme heat and cold events in the context of broad urban sustainability and community resilience-related objectives.

This series highlights ongoing digital scholarship across campus by faculty, staff, and students, bridging the disciplines to spark conversations on creating and using digital tools in higher education, both in and outside of the classroom. The series is hosted by the UB Libraries and organized by Heidi Dodson and Rachel Starry, the libraries’ postdoctoral fellows. All are welcome; please join us for the conversation!
