Performance Research Workshop: WIP with Lindsay Brandon Hunter, “Transient Witness: Livestreaming the Real”

March 1, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

This spring PRW is presenting a Works-in-Progress Series featuring three UB faculty. First up is Dr. Lindsay Brandon Hunter of Theatre & Dance, who will share her work in a talk titled, “Transient Witness: Livestreaming the Real.”

Lindsay Brandon Hunter is Assistant Professor of Theatre at the University at Buffalo. Her research investigates the confluence of theatricality, authenticity, and mediatization, in sites as varied as intermedial theatre, reality television, and alternate reality gaming. Her current book project, Playing Real: Media, Mimesis, and Mischief, takes on each of those sites to examine how theatricality and mediatization work both to enact and to interrogate notions of authenticity and realness. Her most recent essays appear in the International Journal of Performance Arts and Digital Media and in this month’s special issue of the journal Amodern, devoted to ephemera, archives, and performance. She is also a contributor to the volume Reframing Immersive Theatre: The Politics and Pragmatics of Participatory Performance, published this fall by Palgrave MacMillan.
