OVPRED/HI Faculty Publication Support Funding

The UB Humanities Institute, enabled by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development (OVPRED), offers publication funding to support creative and scholarly books, articles, book chapters, and digital formats by tenure-stream faculty publishing humanities-based work. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, with awards (non-sponsored SUNY Research Foundation) based on availability of funds and merit.

This fund is intended to provide publication funds when other department and college based resources are unavailable. Examples of the publication expenses supported include: subvention, indexing, editing (including developmental), image rights, and open access. Other expense types will be considered and should be detailed in the application; the fund does not support research trips (please see OVPRED/HI Research Funding in the Arts and Humanities for research support).

Supported publication categories include, but are not limited to:

  • Single-authored book
  • Edited or co-edited book
  • Peer-reviewed article or book chapter
  • Digital publication

These funds are available to faculty that have exhausted all other publication-related resources available including the Julian Park Publication Fund for early publication by junior (untenured) faculty in the College of Arts and Science. Similarly, any individual research funds must be exhausted before turning to the HI/OVPRED Publication Fund.
