The Ground Beneath her Feet: Towards a Black Poetics and Politics of Movement”

She explores a black poetics and politics of movement that questions verticality as the desired norm. Instead of seeing every fall as an opportunity to get up again, is there another way to relate to a living, moving and remembering landscape? For answers, Young turns to African American/Nigerian artist Wura-Natasha Ogunji, whose performances of dragging kegs of water through the streets of Lagos foreground issues of disability, women’s labor, and spirituality.
