Performance Research Workshop: Chloe Johnston (Lake Forest College, Chicago Neo-Futurists), “Beautiful Tangles: Neo-Futurism, Truth, and the Brain”

Dr. Chloe Johnston is Associate Professor of Theatre at Lake Forest College, and a long-time member of the Chicago Neo-Futurists, an award-winning performance ensemble. Dr. Johnston is also a prolific solo performer, writer, teacher, and scholar whose work has been seen on stages in Chicago and Los Angeles and in the journals TDR, Liminalities, Theatre Topics, and Performance Research. She is the co-author, with Coya Paz Brownrigg, of Ensemble-Made Chicago: A Guide to Devised Theater, recently published by Northwestern University Press.

Dr. Johnston’s visit is graciously co-sponsored by UB’s Department of Theatre & Dance.

At Northwestern, she was the recipient of the Breen Prize, the Lilla P. Heston Award, a grant from the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in the Arts, and served as teaching affiliate with the Alice Kaplan Institute for the Humanities. She has been invited to give talks and conduct workshops at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Franklin and Marshall College, and Northwestern University. She has designed and taught classes at Northwestern, the University of Chicago, and Lake Forest College, in addition to teaching solo-performance workshops around the country.
