Poetics Plus Series: Aja Couchois Duncan, Readings from “Vestigial”

September 30, 2022 @ 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Aja Couchois Duncan is a poet and translator who works in hybrid genres within Native American studies, ecopoetics, and LGBTQIA studies. During this Zoom event, she will be reading from her new book Vestigial, which tracks a poetic narrative across multiple chronologies and scales–from the personal to the geologic.

Duncan is a social justice coach and capacity builder of Ojibwe, French, and Scottish descent who lives on the ancestral and stolen land of the Coastal Miwok people. Her debut collection Restless Continent (Litmus Press, 2016) was one of Entropy‘s Best Poetry Collections of 2016 and received the California Book Award for Poetry in 2017. Her most recent book is Vestigial (Litmus Press, 2021). Duncan holds an MFA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University.
