Reclaiming Our Ancestors: Where I Am From: Creative Writing Workshop

February 22, 2018 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free

The City of Buffalo exemplifies the polarized conditions and threats from the legacies of slavery and oppression that characterize the United States as a whole, but many people here strive daily to create justice, beauty, and equality. Buffalo people are bringing about a just transition towards a beautiful future for our city, and we invite everyone to take part in creating this transition through storytelling and the arts.

You are cordially invited to join us for this creative writing workshop to create your own poetry, prose, and stories grounded in ancestry and home.

Several writers of the African diaspora who presented at the Reclaiming Our
Ancestors Conference in Buffalo in October 2017 will facilitate.

This workshop is designed for ages 13 and up. Participants are encouraged to bring an item that connects them to the place where they are from.

To reserve your space, we ask that you commit to arriving on time and to remaining for the entire workshop.

To register, please email Rebekah Williams.
