Science Studies Research Workshop: Jonathan Reichert, “The Detection of Gravitational Waves, Revolutionizing our View of The Universe”

November 7, 2018 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Jonathan Reichert (Professor Emeritus of Physics, UB), “The Detection of Gravitational Waves, Revolutionizing our View of The Universe”

Wednesday, November 7, 2018
4:00-5:30 pm, 280 Park Hall

Throughout all of human history, the only way we humans could attempt to understand our universe was by studying electromagnetic radiation (light, x-rays, radio waves, etc.) or cosmic particles. But that has changed, and now you are witness to that revolution. So let’s, together, try to understand this revolution; what could it tell us, and how is it done?

Professor Reichert is the founder and CEO of TeachSpin Inc, a unique company that designs, manufactures, and markets apparatus used in upper division instructional physics laboratories all over the world. He is also the founder of a charitable foundation that funds equipment purchased for experimental physics instruction.

Sponsored by the Science Studies Research Workshop through the generous support of UB’s Humanities Institute.
The lecture is free and open to the public
